Serbian Cardionephrology Association was founded in 2003, with the aim of bringing together cardiologists and nephrologists in solving a major problem: the increasingly frequent occurrence of combined heart and kidney diseases.
Our main goal was and remains the direction of joint work on prevention, early detection and adequate treatment of these conditions.
From the first knowledge about cardiorenal interaction in the nineties of the last century, today we have reached the scientific discipline called cardionephrology. It studies the complex etiopathogenetic mechanisms of the origin and development of cardiorenal and renocardial syndromes, as well as modern diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
We are proud to point out that we are the second in Europe to start activities in the field of cardionephrology, behind the Italian school headed by Prof. Mario Timio, MD, and now Prof. Luca Di Lullo, MD.
Time has shown that this organization must be of a multidisciplinary type and that, beside cardiologists and nephrologists, the scientists from other specialties - from physiologists, pathophysiologists, biochemists, endocrinologists, pulmonologists, radiologists and anesthesiologists, to biologists, histologists and chemists, have to participate in its work.
A multidisciplinary approach to the problem of combined heart and kidney diseases is the only correct way, which enables early detection and proper diagnosis, prevention and treatment of these conditions, as well as their complications on other organs and systems.
In twenty years of existence, we have organized eleven large international gatherings and over a hundred thematic meetings, and thus, slowly but surely, we have entered into tradition and memory. .
For years, we have been gathering eminent experts from around the world with the aim of providing our healthcare professionals with the opportunity to learn from the best.
We have created a unique school of cardionephrology, not only in our country, but also in Southeast Europe.
We are particularly proud of our educational activity aimed at certain categories of the population, starting from school age to the elderly .
We have come a long way since 2003 and survived thanks to the tremendous energy, enthusiasm and dedication of individuals who had a vision for the future.
We invite you to support us and actively participate in our work.
In 2023, the Cardionephrology Association of Serbia celebrated a significant anniversary: 20 years of foundation and work!
Our activity was reflected in continuous educational activity and the organization of a large number of gatherings, from meetings, seminars, symposiums to international congresses. Slowly but surely, we entered the tradition and became recognizable for the quality of our work. Certainly, a multidisciplinary approach to the problems of associated heart and kidney diseases and the involvement of an international team made up of eminent experts from the fields presented at the congress is a key factor.
At eleven international gatherings organized by the Cardionephrology Association, more than 560 papers were presented, of which more than 120 were presented by eminent experts from abroad. This jubilee is the right moment to remember them and express our special gratitude because they contributed to the development of cardionephrology in Serbia.
